With the new feature, ‘backup chats’ are now saved on WhatsApp
Backup Chats Whatsapp
RAHIMYARKHAN Desk: WhatsApp is working on a new feature to protect its cloud
backups called "Password Protection” which will save backup chats.
Although WhatsApp chats are secret between the sender and the recipient, no one else can see it,
but this protection is not in the secure online backup on Google Drive and iCloud.
Given this need, WhatsApp is now introducing a password protection feature in backups as well.
This feature will be available for Android and iOS users.
WhatsApp Management
In this regard, WhatsApp management says that to prevent unauthorized access to your iCloud Drive backup, users can now set a password that will be used to secure future backups and whenever the user backs up. Will need a password to restore chats.
• The chat database is already encrypted now (excluding media), but the algorithm is reversible and it’s not end-to-end encrypted.
• Local Android backups will be compatible with this feature. The chat DB and media will be encrypted using a password that only you know. https://t.co/WAliLUnF18

Whenever someone tries to access a backup chat, WhatsApp will not immediately give access without verifying the phone number, however, the user will need to remember their password because in case of forgetting the password Recovery is not available and is done to secure backup chats.
Backup Security
Previously, backup security was the responsibility of cloud service providers who in the past only made it accessible to law enforcement agencies with valid search warrants, but this will not be possible after password protection. ۔
